Mohammad Shami has come out as the man to go to for Virat Kohli in absence of Jasprit Bumrah. In the Indore Test match, Shami picked 7/58 and routed Bangladesh to help India win by an innings and 130 runs. Though he only managed two wickets in the Kolkata Test match, on his home ground on Eden Gardens, he provided vital support to Umesh and Ishant, while sending two of the Bangladeshi batsmen back by hitting them on the helmet.

Ajinkya Rahane had a good series scoring two half-centuries in two Tests with the highest score being 86 in the Indore Test. He helped Mayank Agarwal get past his double century, while in Kolkata, he helped India stretch their total to an imposing one.
