Harshal Patel was a useful bowler in the IPL for eons but came into his own as RCB used him in a specific role as a death-over specialist and he excelled in the role in IPL 2021. Harshal ended up as the Purple Cap winner with a record-equaling 32 scalps to his name.

IPL 2021: Harshal Patel 'pretty happy' with his first hat-trick as RCB beat MI

This was the highest haul of wickets in one IPL season by an uncapped Indian bowler and joint-most by any bowler as well, equaling the record by Dwayne Bravo. Harshal’s economy was 8.14 and he picked up a fifer and a hat-trick in the tournament both coming incidentally against Mumbai Indians in separate matches.

Harshal being only 30-years-old will have an excellent opportunity to represent the Indian team in near future with India looking for utility players and specialist bowlers.
