Former Australian cricketer Michael Slater was arrested over an alleged domestic violence incident. However, Slater’s manager Sean Anderson declined to comment on the reports, but the local media claimed that he was taken into custody in Sydney.

Slater – who played 74 Tests and 42 ODIs for Australia – was arrested from his home in Manly, in Sydney's northern beaches, by the New South Wales (NSW) police on Wednesday (October 20).

The NSW police confirmed that they had taken the 51-year-old into custody in the Manly Police Station in connection with an alleged incident that occurred last Tuesday, October 12.

However, no charges have been filed on the Australian Test cricketer, but the NSW Police said officers have started an investigation on Tuesday into reports of a domestic violence incident.

As reported by The Daily Mail, a police spokesman stated: “Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday, after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday 12 October 2021.”

The statement added, “Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly about 9:20 am today, and spoke with a 51-year-old man.  He has since been arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.”

Well, the latest controversy isn’t new to Slater, as he was recently dumped from the Seven Network’s cricket commentary team following his “blood on hands” remark against Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on social media over COVID-19 restrictions for Ashes 2021-22.
