Most centuries as captain in Tests and ODIs
Current record holder: ODIs- Ricky Ponting (22 centuries), Tests – Graeme Smith (25 centuries)
The record for most centuries as captain in ODIs is held by Australia’s Ricky Ponting with 22 centuries in 220 innings as captain. While the same record for most centuries as captain in Tests is held by South Africa’s Graeme Smith with 25 centuries in 108 Tests.
Virat Kohli currently has 13 centuries in ODIs as captain and 16 centuries as captain in Tests. Despite his century scoring speed, he still requires to score 10 centuries in ODIs more as a captain and 10 more in Tests to break both records.
However, with his consistency of scoring centuries in both formats, the records of Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith are in danger of being not only breaking but being obliterated by a phenomenon called King Kohli.
Kohli still has quite a few years to go before he hangs his gloves and by the time he is done, this record will be amongst the dozens of other records that will be broken by him.
