Australian spin legend and cricket commentator Shane Warner has criticized Indian opener Prithvi Shaw’s batting technique after the youngster was yet again dismissed cheaply in the second innings of the first Day-Night Test of the four-Test series against Australia in Adelaide.

Shaw’s dreadful form with the bat continued in Australia after a poor IPL 2020 campaign with the Delhi Capitals, as the 21-year-old was dismissed for a silver duck in the 1st innings while he survived only four deliveries in the 2nd innings in the ongoing first pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

On both occasions at the Adelaide Oval, Australian pace spearheads Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins succeeded in beating Shaw’s defence and leaving his stumps shattered since the youngster left a significant gap between his pad and bat and that was enough for the duo to do their job.

Following his horrible outing, Warne made a huge statement about Shaw on Saturday, December 19, saying the youngster will struggle at the international level with the technique he has.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Warne first wrote about Australian opener Joe Burns who is horribly out of form and hoped he will make comeback in the second innings and then wrote that the 2018 U-19 World Cup-winning skipper is facing failures because of the batting technique he has. Burns struck an unbeaten half-century and hit winning runs for Australia.

He tweeted: “No surprise that Burns struggled yesterday as he looks horribly out of form - fingers crossed he can get some in his second dig. Shaw will struggle at this level with that technique.”

Noteworthy, the youngster had poor outings in the warm-up matches , scoring 0, 19, 40 and 3 across two matches against Australia A. Shaw’s streak of failures with the bat may lead to him losing his place in the second Boxing Day Test starting from December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with Shubman Gill and KL Rahul eagerly waiting to break into India’s playing XI.
