Indian pacers were all over the place in the recent second T20I against Sri Lanka which got underway in MCA stadium in Pune on January 5, 2023. India captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first.
India are 1-0 up in the series and looked to put Sri Lanka under pressure, but openers Pathum Nissanka (33) and Kusal Mendis (52) did the opposite adding 80 runs in 8.2 overs. Then Charith Asalanka made 37 in 19 balls, while Umran Malik tried to slow the pace, by picking wickets.
Dasun Shanaka then provided the finishing touches with 56* in 22 balls with 6 sixes and 2 fours as Sri Lanka finished with 206/6 in 20 overs.
For India, Umran Malik picked 3/48, while Akshar Patel took 2/24 and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket.
However, the star of the last game, Shivam Mavi went for 53 runs in 4 overs, and Arshdeep Singh, who was playing his first game for quite a while, conceded 37 runs in only 2 overs which included 5 no balls.
Arshdeep Singh came undone as he conceded a total of 5 no balls in the match. Three of the no-balls came on a trot in his first over where he gave 19 runs and was hit for a six and a four on the free hits.
Arshdeep then 2 more no-balls in the 19th over he bowled and conceded 18 runs.
Such type of bowling was not expected from Arshdeep, who made quite an impression in his debut year of 2022, but his habit of overstepping crossed some limits here and left the Twitterverse in stunned disbelief.
