Veteran India batter Virat Kohli failed to convert his start to a significant score as he got out for 45 on Day 1 of the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali.

Playing his 100th Test match, Kohli was looking set for a big one but left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya got the ball to spin just enough to hit the off pole of former India skipper.

After Kohli’s wicket, the talks of his century drought once again became the talk of the town. The Indian batting great hasn’t hit a ton in international cricket since November 2019.

While the Indian fans were disappointed by Virat Kohli’s dismissal, the man himself was left miffed.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Kohli can be seen visibly frustrated while watching his dismissal after reaching the dressing room.

India skipper Rohit Sharma too was left shocked by Virat’s wicket, which came against the run of play. Notably, Kohli was just five runs short of a flawless century, having added 90 runs with Hanuma Vihari for the third wicket.
