An exciting Test series between India and England came to an unfortunate end after the fifth and final Test match was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. Team India were leading the series by 2-1 after four Test matches.

The series started with a draw at Trent Bridge where the last day was washed out by rain. India then continued their good form and won the second Test at Lord's, followed by a loss at Headingley, and then another win at The Oval to take an unbeatable 2-1 lead.

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag praised the opening pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma for playing a big role in India's two Test wins in the series. He felt their contribution was very important especially when India's fragile middle-order failed.

"The contribution of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma cannot be forgotten. If the partnerships had not happened between KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, the middle order which was not scoring runs would have come in much earlier and India would have gotten all out even quicker," Sehwag said on the Sony Sports Network.

Sehwag pointed out that Rahul and Rohit did a good job in tough English conditions where it's not easy to survive the new ball. He further said, "They used to get India to a strong position, bat for 30-40 overs although even after that because the middle order was not in form, we were getting all out early in some matches."

Rohit ended as the highest run-getter for India in the series with 368 runs in 8 innings at an average of 52.57. He smashed a hundred and two half-centuries. Rahul was India's second most run-getter in the series. He scored 315 runs in 8 innings at an average of 39.37.
