SL v PAK 2023: Pakistan cricket fraternity reacts as Babar Azam and his men rout Sri Lanka in 2nd Test to clinch series 2-0

Pakistan outplayed Sri Lanka in the second Test | GettyPakistan on Thursday (July 27) crushed Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo to sweep the two-match series.

Riding on Abdullah Shafique's marathon double ton (201) and Agha Salman's dazzling 132 not out, the visitors piled up 576/5 (declared) on the board.

Having been bowled out for 166 in the first innings, the hosts once again crumbled under pressure in the second dig, getting bowled out for 188 to lose the match inside four days.  

Left-arm spinner Noman Ali ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up in the second essay, returning with the figures of 7 for 70 in his 23 overs. Fast bowler Naseem Shah (3-44) cleaned up the tail by taking the remaining three wickets in Sri Lanka’s innings.

Angelo Mathews waged a lone battle for the home team on Day 4 as he stayed unbeaten on 63 not out from 127 balls.

With this thumping victory, Pakistan also maintained top position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings.

For their dominant display with both bat and ball, Babar Azam and his men received rich praise from the Pakistan cricket fraternity on Twitter.
