Sourav Ganguly confirms the venue for ICC World Test Championship Final

India and New Zealand will clash in the WTC final from June 18-22, 2021.

Ageas Bowl Southampton will host the WTC final from June 18-22BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has dropped an update on the venue of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand to be played in England in June 2021.

There has been a change at the venue as the match was supposed to be hosted at the Mecca of Cricket, the Lord’s ground in London. However, Ganguly has confirmed on Monday, that the venue has been shifted to the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

"Yes, the final will be held at Ageas Bowl," Ganguly replied to a query from PTI.

This decision was taken because Southampton has a five-star facility inside the stadium, which will make it easier for both the ICC and the England and Wales Cricket Board to create a bio-bubble for the two teams. The match will be played from June 18-22 with 23 being a reserve day.

Team India to undergo stern quarantine ahead of WTC final in June

India qualified for the marquee clash after beating England 3-1 in a just-concluded Test series. The BCCI president, who has been on a medical break after undergoing bypass surgery, is expected to travel to the UK to watch the final match.

"I will go for the World Test Championship and hopefully we can get past New Zealand in the final. New Zealand will be there before us and they will play a couple of Test matches (against England)," Ganguly told the India Today channel.
