5 unlucky players who missed out in the main India squad for T20 World Cup 2021

India will play Pakistan in their opening game of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Oct 24.

MOHAMMED SIRAJ

Mohammed Siraj | GettyMohammed Siraj has been one of the rising fast bowlers in the Indian team and has been impressed with his pace and stamina since his Test debut for India in Australia. However, many would remember that Siraj had actually made his limited-overs debut before his Test debut and his performances were not impressive.

He has played one ODI going wicketless for 76 runs against Australia and 3 T20Is, picking a total of 3 wickets at an economy rate of 12.33.

However, he has been a consistent player for Sunrisers Hyderabad and most currently for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Though his numbers read 45 wickets in 42 IPL matches at an economy of 8.77, he has 17 wickets in 16 IPL matches for RCB in the last two seasons, including the first half of IPL 2021.

Siraj’s exclusion can be termed unlucky as he plays for RCB which is captained by Virat Kohli, who has seen him from close quarters and might have had a discussion over him as a potential fast bowling option for the T20 World Cup 2021.
