Virat Kohli captains the Indian team in all three formats, T20Is, ODIs and Test cricket as well. Even though Kohli has done a fantastic job in leading the national side, captaining three different teams and performing with the bat as well is a tedious job.

Thus, former India wicket-keeper batsman Kiran More expects that there will be a split captaincy situation in India soon as he feels Kohli might say he has had enough and hand over captaincy of one of the formats to his deputy Rohit Sharma.

“I think the vision of the board drives these things. I believe Rohit Sharma will get a chance soon. Virat Kohli is a shrewd captain who played under MS Dhoni. How long he wants to captain the ODIs and T20s, he will also think. You will learn a lot more about these decisions after the England tour,” More told India TV.

Considering Rohit Sharma’s performance in limited-overs cricket and IPL where he has led his franchise Mumbai Indians to title victory 5 times (most by any captain in IPL history), More feels split captaincy could work for Indian team.

“It (Split captaincy) can work in India. What the senior players think about the Indian team’s future is very important. With Virat Kohli, captaining three teams isn’t that easy plus he has to perform as well,” the 58-year-old said.

“And I give him the credit for it because performing in every format while captaining and winning… but, I think there will be a time when Virat Kohli will say ‘Now it’s enough, let Rohit lead the side,” he added.
