On April 7, the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off in the 20th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. MI entered this game hoping for their first win, while DC was also searching for a victory.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma (49) and Ishan Kishan (42) secured an 80-run start in the first 7 overs, while Hardik Pandya scored 39 runs as DC regained some momentum.
However, Tim David (45* in 21 balls with two fours and four sixes) and Romario Shepherd smashed the DC bowling in the death overs. Especially Shepherd, who hit Anrich Nortje for 32 runs in MI's 20th over, including four big sixes, scoring 39* in 10 balls.
MI scored 234/5 from 20 overs. Nortje shot 2/65, while Akshar Patel took 2/35.

Following David Warner's dismissal for ten runs, Prithvi Shaw (66 with eight fours and three sixes) and Abishek Porel (41) launched an attack on the MI spinners. They scored 88 runs for the second wicket.
However, Shaw, who was expecting a big one, was caught off guard by Jasprit Bumrah's brilliance. Porel followed shortly after, becoming Bumrah's 150th IPL wicket.
Despite Tristan Stubbs' best efforts, striking 71* in 25 balls with seven sixes and three fours, DC could only manage 205/8 in 20 overs and lost by 29 runs. Gerald Coetzee took 4/34, while Jasprit Bumrah took 2/22, as MI registered their first win in this IPL 2024.
Romario Shepherd was named the Player of the Match.
