Romario Shepherd gave Mumbai Indians (MI) innings the perfect finish in their ongoing IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals (DC). This match is being played on April 7, 2024, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
DC captain Rishabh Pant had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Jhye Richardson replaced Mitchell Marsh, who was injured, and Lalit Yadav replaced Rasikh Salam Dar in DC playing XI.
As for MI, Suryakumar Yadav replaced Naman Dhir on the team. Romario Shepherd took over for Kwena Maphaka, while Mohammad Nabi replaced Dewald Brevis.
Rohit Sharma (49) and Ishan Kishan (42) added 80 runs together in the first 7 overs. Delhi Capitals managed to bring the momentum back in their half with quick wickets of Suryakumar Yadav (0) and Tilak Varma (6). Even Hardik Pandya couldn’t do much, scoring 39 in 33 balls.
However, Tim David with 45* in 21 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes and Romario Shepherd propelled MI to a brilliant final total. The victim of their assault was Anrich Nortje, who went for plenty of runs in his final two overs.
The most brutal assault came in the final over of the MI innings, which was bowled by Nortje and had Romario Shepherd on the strike.
Shepherd took the Proteas pacer to the cleaners, hitting a four on the first ball and then slamming a hat-trick of sixes. He hit another four on the fifth ball and completed the over with a huge six.
Shepherd took 32 runs in the final over, including 4 sixes, finishing with 39* in 10 balls, while Nortje went for 2/65 in his 4 overs as MI posted 234/5 in 20 overs.
