IPL 2021: 5 captaincy candidates for Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 14

Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of IPL 2021 due to a serious shoulder injury, as per reports.

R Ashwin is probably the front-runner as captain for DC in IPL 2021 | BCCI/IPLPerhaps the most suited for the post of Delhi Capitals’ captaincy for IPL 2021 in absence of Shreyas Iyer is R Ashwin. Ashwin moved from Punjab Kings after leading them for two seasons in IPL 2018 and IPL 2019, winning 12 games out of 28 matches played and losing 16 games.

R Ashwin parted ways with Punjab Kings amicably and picked 13 wickets in 15 games for Delhi Capitals at the economy of 7.66 and picked early wickets for his team in power play overs in IPL 2021. He is the prime candidate for captaincy given his experience in international and IPL cricket.

He has a sharp cricketing mind and is not averse to taking risks and Delhi Capitals may benefit from his maverick ways of leadership and may even go all the way this time, winning the IPL title.
