IPL 2021: 5 captaincy candidates for Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 14

Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of IPL 2021 due to a serious shoulder injury, as per reports.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN

Shikhar Dhawan captained DC as a stand-in a couple of times in IPL 2020 | BCCI/IPLShikhar Dhawan might be with the Delhi Capitals for the second time around since IPL 2018, but he has captained the team on a few occasions as a stand-in and has previously led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013 IPL, winning 4 matches out of 10 he has captained overall in the Indian Premier League.

IND v ENG 2021: Sunil Gavaskar happy to see Shikhar Dhawan succeed amid talks on his age

Dhawan has been in the leadership group of many teams he has played for in the IPL and even in the Indian team setup as well, but has never been seen as a prime contender for captaincy anywhere, and even when he had captained SRH, his performance was not up to par and was replaced by Daren Sammy mid-season.

But since he was the second in command in IPL 2020 and he captained in a couple of matches, DC might have a look at him as well.
