Indian team won the fourth Test of the five-match series against England which was played in Ranchi on February 26, 2024. Rohit Sharma-led Team India defeated the visitors by 5 wickets and also took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
India had resumed their 192-run chase on 40/0 with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking guard. The duo took the score to 84 runs with Jaiswal falling for 37 runs. Rohit Sharma completed his fifty but was dismissed for 55 runs.
Shoaib Bashir then removed Rajat Patidar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sarfaraz Khan in quick succession. But Shubman Gill with 52*, added an unbeaten 72 runs for the sixth wicket with Dhruv Jurel (39*) to take India to the finishing line and won the match by 5 wickets.
It was a very emotional win for the Indian team as they were missing Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah from their lineup. While Kohli is on personal leave, KL Rahul and Mohammad Shami are out injured. Jasprit Bumrah was rested for this crunch match.
Hence, Rohit Sharma, along with Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin carried the team of newcomers like Dhruv Jurel, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, and Akash Deep to three brilliant Test wins.
