Veteran cricketer Hanuma Vihari had recently revealed why he was removed from captaincy of the Andhra team in the middle of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 tournament. Vihari had begun the season as Andhra captain but was removed from the helm after one match.
Ricky Bhui was then named the captain of the side for the remainder of the season, while Vihari continued as the top-order batter for the team.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Vihari shockingly revealed that the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) had asked him to step down as captain of the side after he shouted at a player on the field.
The said player turned out to be the son of an influential politician. This led to the politician influencing Vihari getting sacked from the Andhra team captaincy.
Vihari criticized the Andhra State Cricket Association for deliberately removing him from captaincy and expressed his decision to leave the Andhra team immediately.
However, the teammate he shouted at, KN Prudhvi Raj, has come out and spoken against his former skipper.
In a new twist of tale, Hanuma Vihari took to his X account and shared a photo of a letter to the Andhra Cricket Association head honchos. In the letter, Vihari’s teammates vouched for his leadership and captaincy.
They also assured that they witnessed the said incident between Vihari and the cricketer who was shouted at him and called it a common thing in the team atmosphere.
The letter also stated that the players wanted Vihari to continue captaining the Andhra side.
Vihari shared the image with caption: “The whole team knows!”
