Young guns Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel starred in India’s brilliant 5-wicket win over England in the fourth Test which was played in Ranchi. Both the young batters fought hard on day four encounter in a stiff chase on a challenging pitch.
India had resumed their 192-run chase on 40/0 with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking guard. The duo took the score to 84 runs with Jaiswal falling for 37 runs. Rohit Sharma completed his fifty but was dismissed for 55 runs.
Shoaib Bashir then removed Rajat Patidar, Ravindra Jadeja and Sarfaraz Khan in quick succession. But Shubman Gill with 52*, added unbeaten 72 runs for the sixth wicket with Dhruv Jurel (39*) to take India to the finishing line and won the match by 5 wickets.
After the win, which also gave India a series lead of 3-1 with only one more Test to go, Dhruv Jurel posted a thank you message for captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid for showing trust in him.
“Thank you Rohit bhaiya, Rahul sir for believing in this boy”- Jurel posted on X.
Shubman Gill, on the other hand, posted a motivational quote by Rahul Dravid while sharing his joy on the win.
