The second Test between India and Bangladesh saw over two days of play being lost due to rain and a wet outfield, but the hosts still managed to romp to a seven-wicket win thanks to unprecedented attacking batting.

After Indian bowlers bundled out the visitors for 233 in the first innings on Day 4, Rohit Sharma’s men took the visiting attack to the cleaners, posting 285/9 (declared) in just 34.4 overs.

While Rohit (23 off 11) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) set the tone with a 55-run stand in just 3.5 overs, the likes of Shubman Gill (39 off 36), Virat Kohli (47 off 35) and KL Rahul (68 off 43) carried on the demolition job to help India gain a crucial 52-run lead.

Bangladesh’s second innings folded for a paltry 146 and the home team chased down the target of 95 in the final essay to clinch the series 2-0.

After the unexpected victory, former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik highlighted India’s shift in playing style under the regime of Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir.

"They made it uncomfortable for some of the batters because they wanted to play at such a high tempo. I know for a fact that they have to bat out of their comfort zone. And that's what Rohit Sharma-Gautam Gambhir era is gonna be filled with. Push people out of their comfort zone on and off the field. And that will give the results they are looking for," Karthik said while speaking on Cricbuzz.

"This Test match is astounding, unprecedented. To beat a team, which came in as a confident team, in under two days. After two days have been washed out completely. Still managing to do it with 45 overs to spare. Very, very cool from the Rohit-Gauti partnership so far," he added.

With this victory, Team India strengthened their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. They are firm-favorites to make it to the WTC final for the third consecutive time.

India’s next Test series, featuring three matches, is scheduled against New Zealand at home, starting October 16 in Bengaluru.
