21-year-old Jaiswal is the second youngest batter for India to score debut Test fifty | Getty21-year-old Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued a dream debut for India in the ongoing first Test against the West Indies in Dominica, as on day two, he completed a well-deserved half-century in his maiden match in the red-ball format.

After dismissing West Indies for 150 on day one in the first innings, India had finished the day on 80/0 with Rohit Sharma on 30* and Jaiswal on 40*.

Resuming the play on Day two, Jaiswal joined a list of impressive names as he got to the landmark off 104 balls to assert India's dominance in the series opener. Jaiswal, who yesterday took 16 balls to get off the mark in Test cricket, was subdued in his approach.

He got to the milestone with a cracking pull shot for four off Alzarri Joseph and was congratulated by his captain Rohit Sharma.

Coach Rahul Dravid was seen giving him a standing ovation, before being joined in by Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli. Even captain Rohit Sharma looked impressed and congratulated Jaiswal for his brilliant knock.

Jaiswal's half-century also brought up the 100-run partnership between him and Rohit. This was the first-century stand for Indian openers after 13 Tests since January of 2022 when KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal added 117 runs.

The left-hander also became the second-youngest Indian to hit a fifty on Test debut, after Prithvi Shaw, who achieved this feat in 2018 against the same opposition and went on to hit a century at the age of 18.
