Team India's Test and ODI squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies was unveiled last Friday (June 23), with the selectors making major changes especially in the longest format.

While Cheteshwar Pujara was left out of the Test team, young batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were picked in the 16-member squad.

On the other hand, domestic performers such as Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Priyank Panchal were once again ignored by the selection committee.

Speaking to Sportstar, Easwaran shared his feelings about missing out on the selection for the forthcoming West Indies tour.

The Bengal batter was in sublime form in the last Ranji Trophy, scoring 798 runs from eight games at an average of 66.50. However, he failed to make the cut once more.

In the past, Easwaran has travelled with the Indian team as a stand-by player and also as a squad member but he is yet to receive the Test cap.

The 27-year-old stated that there was no communication from the selectors after being overlooked for the West Indies tour. “No, I have not had any communication so far," Easwaran said.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has featured in 87 First-Class games so far, amassing 6556 runs at an average of 47.85 with 22 centuries.

Despite the continual snubs, Easwaran is in high spirits and he strives to improve as a cricketer every day.

“That is there, irrespective of whether I get picked or not. I want to get better as a cricketer. I want to raise the bar every single day and get better. Selection is something which is not in my hands but improving every day is something I can work on to contribute more to my team, whichever team I play for, be it club, state, India A, East Zone or the Indian team. The thought process has always been that, I just want to focus on that. I just don’t want to give up. I just want to keep focusing on getting better," he added.

India will play two Tests on the tour of West Indies, starting July 12 in Dominica.
