West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran reflected on the heavy loss his side suffered in the fourth T20I against India in Florida, as India defeated them by 59 runs to take an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match series. 

Bowling first, after winning the toss, the Pooran-led side had no answers to the counterattack by Rohit Sharma (33) and Suryakumar Kumar (24), who scored 53 runs for the opening partnership. After that, the hosts came back strongly and took wickets at regular intervals.

But in the end, Rishabh Pant (44) and Sanju Samson (30*) also played handy knocks and helped India post a total of 191 runs on the board. 

While chasing the target, West Indies never got going as they lost wickets in clusters and were bundled out for just 132 runs. Skipper Pooran looked in fine touch and smashed 24 runs in 8 balls before he was run out as his side lost the match by a big margin. 

Speaking during the post-match presentation, Nicholas Pooran said that he was happy with the way his side came back after India went off the flyer. He talked about the things which put them on the back foot and also lauded Akeal Hosein for his spell. 

“We know they got off to a flying start, but I was happy with the way our guys came back. Unfortunately we didn't get a partnership, it was a par score. Not ideal to get run out, it changed the game. 

“There was some miscommunication. But the other guys could have put their hands up and taken us over the line. Akeal was brilliant with the ball,” Nicholas Pooran said. 

Pooran, while congratulating India for winning the series, said that the last game will be an opportunity for his side to find the perfect balance for the T20 World Cup 2022. 

“The others too need to find their rhythm and find the game. But having said that, congratulations to India. As a unit, we want to win games and tomorrow is an opportunity to take it. It gives other guys an opportunity to come in. It is all about building up to that World Cup and finding that balance,” he said. 

The fifth and the final T20I between the teams is slated to take place on Sunday (7th August) at the same venue.
