WI v IND 2022: Rishabh, Avesh and Arshdeep star as India win 4th T20I by 59 runs; lead series 3-1

This 4th T20I was played in Fort Lauderhill, Florida which will also host the 5th and final T20I on August 7.  

West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and chose to bowl first and revealed that his team was unchanged. India made three changes bringing in Sanju Samson for Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi for R Ashwin, and Akshar Patel for Hardik Pandya in the playing XI from the last match.

Rohit Sharma started off in an aggressive fashion hitting 33 runs in 16 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours to his name. In the process, Rohit became the second most six-hitter in international cricket with 477 maximums to his name, going past Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi’s record of 476 hits over the boundary.

Suryakumar Yadav made 24, while Rishabh Pant top-scored with 44 in 31 balls with 6 fours. Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 30 in 23 balls, but the high crescendo finish to the Indian innings was given by Akshar Patel, who made 20* in 8 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes to his name.

Alzarri Joseph picked 2/29 and the hero of the second T20I win, Obed McCoy who had taken 6/17, the best T20I figures for West Indies, went for 66 runs in his 4 overs for 2 wickets to earn the worst T20I figures for the Men in Maroon as well.

Avesh Khan picked 2/17 | Getty/AFPWest Indies needed a good start, but Avesh Khan removed Brandon King and Devon Thomas early. Nicholas Pooran looked dangerous, hitting Akshar Patel for 3 sixes in an over, but got run out in the same over for 24 in 8 balls.

Rovman Powell also made 24 runs, while Ravi Bishnoi picked 2/24 in his 4, while Akshar Patel ended with 2/48. However, Arshdeep Singh proved to be the star with figures of 3/12 as West Indies was bowled out for 132 runs with 5 balls to go.

With this win, India now leads the series 3-1 and has gained an unassailable lead in the series.
