Before the Mumbai Indians' (MI) IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, India captain Rohit Sharma gave Mohammed Siraj the T20 World Cup 2024 winning ring.

Siraj had not been present at the BCCI's Naman Awards function earlier this year. An Ashok chakra is inlaid on top of the personalized ring, which also displays the players' names and jersey numbers.

India's first significant victory since the 2013 Champions Trophy came last year when they overcame South Africa in Barbados to win the T20 World Cup. Even though South Africa at one point just needed 30 runs off as many balls, India was still able to win the final.

Star batter Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma declared their T20I retirements following the final. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined them in saying goodbye to the format a day later.

"This is for Mohammad Siraj. We missed you at the function. You played a vital role in our T20 campaign. So, I am proudly presenting him with a very, very special ring which was made for all of us. Unfortunately, Siraj wasn't there, so I would like to present this to Mr. Siraj,” Rohit Sharma said in the video shared by BCCI.

“@mdsirajofficial receives a special ring from #TeamIndia Captain @ImRo45 for his impactful contributions in the team's victorious ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign,” the caption of the video read.
