The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi expressed openness to resuming bilateral cricketing ties with India. However, he has said that this will only happen under certain conditions.

The said condition by Naqvi is that PCB would only consider the possibility of playing against India in a bilateral series if India sends their team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy next year.

On the Club Prairie podcast recently, Rohit praised the Pakistan team and expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of playing against them in a Test series overseas, describing it as "awesome."

Naqvi was asked about the same in a press conference and he said: "Look, if any options in this regard come we will consider it, but our target right now is to host the Champions Trophy and first let India come for the tournament. Right now till the CT, there is no slot available as our team has a packed itinerary. Once they come here first then we can look at any proposal whenever it comes before us.”

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13 when Pakistan visited for a white-ball tour. The last Test the two countries had played was back in 2007 and India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup tournament.

While the two teams play each other in white-ball ICC tournaments, they do not engage in the ICC World Test Championship.

The chances of India visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy are slim to none. This is because the BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said some time back that India would not travel to Pakistan for cricket. The Asia Cup 2023 was supposed to be played in Pakistan, but due to India’s refusal to visit the country, Pakistan hosted just 4 matches of the tournament, with the rest of the encounters including India’s happening in Sri Lanka.
