An unexpected visitor, a monitor lizard, briefly halted play on the second day of the ongoing one-off Test between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Colombo.
The lizard appeared on the field during the 48th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, prompting officials to intervene and try to shoo it away. Fortunately, after a brief interruption, the monitor lizard scurried out of the field, and play was possible to resume on Saturday, February 3.
Sony Sports Network shared the clip of the incident on its social media platform X on Saturday, and now it is going viral on the internet. In the video, the black lizard can be seen entering the field.
Sony Sports Network captioned the clip on X: "We had an uninvited guest on the field today ????????"

This incident brings back memories of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) last year, where matches were stopped many times due to snakes entering the playing area.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are facing each other in a Test match for the first time at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. After being asked to bat first, the Afghanistan team bowled out for just 198 runs in their first innings against Sri Lanka.
In reply, Sri Lanka’s score reads 380/3 at the time of writing this, with Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal unbeaten at the crease having reached their hundreds.
