“Your words of encouragement means a lot,” Triple centurion Prithvi Shaw thanks Jay Shah after receiving rich praise

Shaw slammed 379 off 383 balls in a Ranji Trophy match against Assam.

Prithvi Shaw | BCCIMumbai opener Prithvi Shaw is once again hogging the limelight for his stellar showing in the Indian domestic circuit.

On Wednesday (January 11), Shaw shattered multiple records en route to his incredible triple century during a Ranji Trophy match against Assam.

The 23-year-old slammed 379 off just 383 deliveries in Guwahati and his knock was studded with 49 fours and four sixes.

With this marathon knock, Shaw became the second-highest individual scorer in Ranji Trophy history, behind BB Nimbalkar's unbeaten 443 runs while playing for Maharashtra against Saurashtra in the 1948/49 season.

The swashbuckling right-hander also became the top scorer in a single innings for Mumbai, surpassing Sanjay Manjrekar’s 377 against Hyderabad.

For his dazzling display against Assam, Prithvi Shaw received rich praise from the Indian cricket fraternity, including the BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Taking to Twitter, Shah wrote: “Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic".

Shaw was overwhelmed by the BCCI secretary’s praising words as he replied: "Thank you so much @JayShah sir. Your words of encouragement means a lot. Will keep working hard."

Earlier, it was reported that Prithvi Shaw was annoyed with the BCCI after being overlooked for the tours of New Zealand and Bangladesh in November-December 2022 and the ongoing white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home.

Despite being a consistent performer in domestic cricket across formats, Prithvi Shaw has failed to find a spot in the Indian squad lately. He last played for India during the white-ball tour to Sri Lanka in 2021 while his last Test appearance was in December 2020.
