WATCH: Alastair Cook’s hilarious bowling run-up during County Championship takes internet by storm

Cook bowled with a hilarious action in Essex's County Championship fixture against Kent.

Sir Alastair Cook | ScreengrabFormer England Test skipper Sir Alastair Cook is widely deemed as one of the greatest openers in Test history. He played 161 Tests in his 12-year long international career, amassing 12,472 runs at an average of 45.35 with 33 centuries and 57 fifties.

Cook retired from international cricket in 2018 but he is still plying his trade for Essex in the County Championship. Recently, his video of bowling during the county game went viral on social media.

In the clip, the 37-year-old can be seen sporting a hilarious bowling action. During his bowling run-up, Cook was watching the fielder on the off-side and his arms were stretched like a fast bowler.

Alastair Cook’s bowling action left the players and commentators in splits.

Here’s the video:

The video is from the Division One County Championship fixture between Essex and Kent. Cook scored 100 off 266 balls in the first innings for Essex and stayed unbeaten on 26 in the second dig as the match ended in a draw.
