Pakistan cricket team isn't among the best sides when it comes to fielding and we have often seen them messing up easy chances. One more such incident happened during Pakitan's third T20I against West Indies on Thursday (December 16).
Mohammad Hasnain and Iftikhar Ahmed recreated a famous catch drop of Saeed Ajmal which also involved Shoaib Malik. Ajmal had got into a position to take the catch but when the ball came down he let it go, expecting Malik to catch it.
This time, Hasnain and Iftikhar gave fans a major throwback when the two Pakistan fielders dropped an easy catch of Shamarh Brooks in the 8th over of West Indies' innings.
Twitterati were in splits and they took no time in recalling the Ajmal-Malik catch drop back in 2008 which was also against West Indies. But the catch drop didn't hurt them much as they won the match by 7 wickets, chasing 208 runs in 18.5 overs to win the three-match series 3-0.
West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to bat first. He was the top scorer for his team with 64 runs as they posted a total of 207/3 in 20 overs.
For Pakistan, captain Babar Azam and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan laid the foundation of a successful run-chase with a partnership of 158 runs for the first wicket. Later, Asif Ali's unbeaten 7-ball 21 helped them finish the chase with 7 balls left.
Here are the reactions of Twitterati to the catch drop:
