Sachin Tendulkar among world’s top 3 most admired sportspersons of 2021

Tendulkar took retirement from international cricket in 2013.

 Sachin Tendulkar | GettyHe might have retired from international cricket more than eight years ago, but it seems that Sachin Tendulkar’s popularity hasn’t dropped a bit.

According to a survey conducted by YouGov – an internet-based market research and data analytics firm – the Indian batting great has been adjudged as the world's 12th 'Most Admired Man'.

In order to compile the list, YouGov surveyed more than 42,000 people in 38 countries and territories.

Among sporting icons, Tendulkar is third in the list behind soccer legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the list, Sachin Tendulkar features ahead of former US president Donald Trump, Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and also current India Test skipper Virat Kohli.

In a career spanning 24 years, Tendulkar played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs for India, scoring the world record number of runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs) and centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs). He also holds the record for most runs, centuries, fifties in ICC Cricket World Cup and is the most capped player in Tests and ODIs.

After retiring from cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has supported several initiatives in health, education, and the sports sector in rural and urban areas across various states in India.
