Ravi Shastri posts throwback picture of his Test debut 40 years back

Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri posted a throwback picture from his debut Test match in 1981. He had made his debut against New Zealand at Basin Reserve, on this very day.

Shastri posted the forty-year-old picture with his fans on Twitter and wrote he's happy to still be a part of the game. Taking to Twitter on Sunday (February 21), he wrote, "On this day 40 years ago...in Wellington, I made my Test debut."

He further added, "It's great to be still part of the great game and be involved with the national team" along with the picture when he was just 18.

The 58-year-old played 80 Test matches for India. He picked up 151 wickets and scored 3830 runs in the longest format while representing the country.

Shastri was the youngest member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning squad. He was also the best performer in the World Championship of Cricket in 1985 and was named Man-of-the Series.
