The controversial mode of dismissal Mankading was once again discussed as Delhi Capitals’ coach Ricky Ponting gave a statement that he will not allow R Ashwin, who was traded from Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2020, to run out anyone as he did with Jos Buttler in IPL 2019.
The mode of dismissal was seen once again during Afghanistan’s ongoing Shpageeza Cricket League 2020 when Mis Ainak Knights’ Dawlat Zadran ran out non-striker Kabul Eagles’ Noor Ali Zadran, who had ventured out of his crease before Dawlat delivered the ball.
IPL 2020: "What R Ashwin did takes a lot of courage", says DC chairman on 'Mankading' row
Noor Ali, batting on 61 off 42 balls, was seen taking a few steps out of the crease even as Dawlat was about to deliver. The fast bowler stopped before turning back and knocked off the bails and appealed to the umpire and the on-field umpires sent it upstairs.
Dawlat Zadran and his teammates began celebrating before the third umpire reviewed the footage and gave it out. Despite losing Noor Ali at a crucial juncture, Kabul Eagles were able to chase down the target of 164 in 19 overs.
