India fielding coach R Sridhar contributes Rs 4 Lakh to COVID-19 relief fund

On Thursday (April 2), Sridhar – the Indian fielding coach – contributed Rs 2 Lakh to PM-CARES, Rs 1.5 Lakh to Telangana Chief Minister's Relief Fund and Rs 50,000 to Secunderabad Cantonment Board.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "As a proud Indian citizen, I'm Duty-bound and honoured to contribute Rs 200,000/- to @PMCares, Rs 150,000/- to @TelanganaCMO & Rs 50,000/- to Sec Cantt Board. #COVID19outbreak #PMCaresFunds #PMCARES @narendramodi @PMOIndia @KTRTRS @BCCI @WHO #letsgetourcountrybackontrack"

Recently, the superstars of Indian cricket such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Gautam Gambhir, among others have also come forward to help the underprivileged by donating to various relief funds set up by the government.

In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, Indian government on February 24 imposed a nationwide lockdown for the next three weeks.

As of April 2, the overall number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India has crossed the 1900-mark with over 45 deaths reported in the country due to the deadly virus.

Globally, the outbreak has claimed more than 47,000 lives and infected over 940,000 people thus far.
