With the growing novel Coronavirus cases, the world has come to a practical standstill. People have been told to practice social distancing as the pandemic has already claimed more than 13,000 lives and infected over 300,000.

The outbreak has also hit the cricketing world as all the series and tournaments have been either cancelled or rescheduled. Amid the crisis, fans are finding ways to keep themselves occupied.

Recently, Sky Sports statistician Benedict Bermange devised a way to conduct a Virtual Test match between England and Sri Lanka. He is using a cricket simulation to cover the rescheduled Test series.

After the second day's play, the English statistician shared the scorecard on his Twitter account.

"Root and Stokes batted out the day and England will feel happy as they go into day three of the Virtual Test just sixty runs behind, with seven wickets in hand," Bermange tweeted.

To which, England skipper Joe Root replied: "Odds on Root getting out in the 70's", taking a dig at his poor conversion rate in Test cricket.

English statistician again posted the scorecard after the third day's play with the caption: "Joe Root fell just short of a century but England edged ahead after an attritional morning in the Virtual Test at Galle, reaching the interval on 296-6, a lead of 19."

On Day 3 of the virtual Test, Root got out for 95. And the England captain reacted to his dismissal in the nervous nineties with a broken heart.

Notably, Joe Root’s poor conversion rate often becomes a topic of discussion among the fans. The elegant right-hander has only 17 Test tons to his name from 92 games as he has failed to convert 48 half-centuries to a three-figure mark.
