India batter Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against South Africa due to a left-hamstring injury. Rohit was appointed as the Test vice-captain, replacing Ajinkya Rahane, for the upcoming tour.
Priyank Panchal has replaced injured Rohit for the Test series, which starts on December 26 in Centurion. Priyank was recently on South Africa tour with the India A team and he scored 96, 24, and 0 in two matches.
Team India's ex-cricketers, RP Singh, Parthiv Patel, and Irfan Pathan congratulated the 31-year-old for the Test call-up. While Irfan wrote Priyank has been paid for his patience, Parthiv tweeted his best wishes for the 31-year-old as he finally got a chance.

Parthiv's tweet read, "Exactly after 100 first-class matches and nearly after one and half decade in domestic cricket, @PKpanchal9 has finally got a chance to prove himself in Test . Best wishes bhai."
RP Singh wrote that he has played with Priyank and saw his hunger for runs with remarkable consistency. Calling him a 'great' teammate, he tweeted, "Having played with him, I have seen his remarkable consistency and hunger for runs.
"But the best quality about @PKpanchal9 is that, he a great team mate. Congratulations young man. Finally, you have got your opportunity. Best wishes for the tour. #priyankpanchal".
