The BCCI selection committee on Tuesday (December 27) announced Team India’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home.
The T20I series is slated to get underway on January 3 in Mumbai. Pune and Rajkot will host the second and third games on January 5 and January 7, respectively.
The squad doesn’t feature India’s regular white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma, his predecessor Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Also not featured in the T20I side was Rishabh Pant.
Hardik Pandya has been named the captain of the T20I team, while Suryakumar Yadav has been named the vice-captain of the side.
The squad also includes Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sanju Samson as batters. Kishan has been designated as the wicketkeeper as well.
Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Akshar Patel are the spin options in the T20I squad while Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik, Shivam Mavi, and Mukesh Kumar are the fast-bowling options.
Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar earned their maiden T20I call-up for India.
