The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on February 15, 2022, announced the revised schedule for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is scheduled to face India in three T20Is and two Test matches.
Earlier, as per the initial itinerary, Sri Lanka was to play Test matches first and then the T20Is. But the Sri Lankan board requested BCCI to revise the schedule and host the T20Is first as their team will be coming from Australia after playing the T20I series and it will be a seamless bubble to bubble transfer.
The Indian team will also finish playing the T20I series against West Indies on February 20 and will transfer to the Sri Lanka series bubble.
Sri Lanka will first play the T20I series comprising three matches followed by a two-match Test series, which will be a part of the ICC World Test Championship, 2021-23. Lucknow will now host the first T20I while the next two will be played in Dharamsala.
The first Test will now be held in Mohali from March 4th to 8th and the second Test will be played from March 12th to 16th in Bengaluru. This second Test will be a day-night affair and will be played with a pink ball under lights.
The first Test between the two sides in Mohali will also be former captain Virat Kohli's 100th Test match for India, a huge occasion for the star batter.
Here is the revised schedule:
1st T20I- Lucknow- February 24
2nd T20I- Dharamsala- February 26
3rd T20I- Dharamsala- February 27
1st Test- Mohali- March 4-8
