IND v AUS 2022: WATCH- Rohit Sharma kisses Dinesh Karthik after Glenn Maxwell’s fortunate run out

Australia was asked to bat first after Rohit Sharma won the toss.

Glenn Maxwell walks off after getting run out | APIndian captain Rohit Sharma was a relieved man after Australia’s big-hitter Glenn Maxwell got run out in a fortunate way despite a mistake by Dinesh Karthik in the ongoing 3rd T20I in Hyderabad.

The series stands 1-1 and Rohit started well by winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. India replaced Rishabh Pant with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Australia brought in Josh Inglis for Sean Abbott.

Cameron Green gave Australia a flying start with his 21-ball 52 with 7 fours and 3 sixes after Aaron Finch was dismissed early. But then Indian bowlers controlled the game nicely as Steve Smith fell for 9 and Glenn Maxwell got run out for 6 runs.

But it could have been not out for Glenn Maxwell, had luck not helped the Indian team.

On the 4th ball of the 8th over, Glenn Maxwell swatted a short ball from Yuzvendra Chahal to short fine-leg and set off for a single. But Akshar Patel got to the ball quicker than anticipated and Maxwell tried to return to the crease.

Akshar Patel hit the stumps directly and everyone appealed and looked happy with the wicket. However, replays suggested that Karthik’s gloves, which were in front of the stumps, had dislodged the bails before the ball reached the stumps and it gave Australian fans hopes.

Dinesh Karthik's gloves dislodged one bail first and then ball dislodged the other bail | TwitterBut the third umpire opted for another angle and that showed that the gloves dislodged just one bail, while the other bail was removed when the ball hit the stumps, and Maxwell was given run out.

Here is the video of the same:

After watching the replays and before the decision came, Rohit Sharma went to Dinesh Karthik and kissed him on the helmet, while smiling looking at the replays on the big screen.
