Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya set to play in IND v AFG ODIs; Mohd. Siraj replaced by Prasidh Krishna for UK T20Is

India will play 3 ODIs v Afghanistan, 2 T20Is against Ireland and 5 T20Is in England.

Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna | BCCIBCCI confirmed on June 9, 2026, that Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India’s T20I squad for the Ireland and England series. He has been replaced by Prasidh Krishna.

Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season,” BCCI stated in a statement.

On the other hand, sources have confirmed that Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have been deemed fit to take part in the upcoming three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan, starting June 13 in Dharamshala.

For those unversed, Rohit and Hardik sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season while playing for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma | GettyBoth players are anticipated to join the national team soon before the series after passing their fitness tests, according to the sources.

"Hardik and Rohit are all set to play the ODI series against Afghanistan; both have cleared their fitness test and will soon join the team," sources told ANI.

Virat Kohli, the ace batter, was ruled out owing to a hamstring injury acquired during the IPL 2026 final, in which the Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully defended their title.

In an update on the former India captain, BCCI head selector Ajit Agarkar stated that the exact rehabilitation period has still to be decided.

"With Virat at this point, I think it's just what has been less than a week since he injured himself in the final (IPL 2026), so they'll probably assess. We don't know the timelines yet, but it looks like he might be fit for that England ODI series. But again, it's not a definitive answer, so don't hold me to it. We haven't had a clear timeline from the physio yet," Agarkar said.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal replaced Kohli in the Indian ODI squad.

India is scheduled to face Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series beginning in Dharamsala on June 13. The second ODI will be played in Lucknow on June 17, while Chennai will host the final match on June 20.
