India won the first ODI of the three-match series against England at the Oval on July 12, 2022, by 10 wickets thanks to an amazing bowling performance from Jasprit Bumrah and an unbeaten century-plus stand between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.
Rohit won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision which was justified by his bowlers who bowled out England for 110 runs. Jasprit Bumrah picked his career-best 6/19, which are also the best bowling figures by an Indian against England.
Mohammad Shami also took 3 wickets, as big-wigs of the England team like Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Liam Livingstone made ducks.

In reply, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan wiped off the target in 18.4 overs with Sharma making 76* and Dhawan making 31* as India finished on 114/0 and won the first ODI by 10 wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
During their 18th century partnership, Dhawan and Rohit also became only the second Indian pair after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly and the fourth overall to add more than 5,000 runs for the opening wicket in ODIs.
Jasprit Bumrah was named the Player of the Match.
