India opener Rohit Sharma put on a show with the bat on Day 3 of the fourth Test against England at the Oval.
The visitors were trailing by 99 runs going into their second innings and needed someone to get a big score. Amid the pressure situation, Rohit stepped up to the plate and slammed a classy century.
The right-hander added 83 runs for the opening wicket with KL Rahul (46) and then shared an unbroken 116-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara until the Tea break to put India in the driver’s seat.
In the process, Rohit notched up his 8th Test hundred, which also happens to be his first on English soil in red-ball cricket. He achieved the milestone in the 64th over of India’s innings by hoisting Moeen Ali for a huge six over long-on.
