ENG v IND 2021: WATCH - KL Rahul receives a warm welcome in the dressing room after century at Lord's

KL Rahul is the third Indian opener, after Vinoo Mankad and Ravi Shastri, to score a hundred at Lord’s.

India opener KL Rahul is in terrific form on England tour and he continued his good performance from the first Test with a hundred at Lord's on Thursday (August 12). Rahul scored 127* and Rohit Sharma added 83 runs as India ended the first day with a score of 276/3. 

After stumps on Day 1, Rahul received a warm welcome from his teammates and support staff while walking back to the dressing room. BCCI's social media team captured the moment and shared it on Twitter.

"???? Scenes as @klrahul11 returns to the dressing room after his brilliant 1⃣2⃣7⃣* on Day 1 of the Lord's Test. ???? ????," wrote BCCI on social media. 

The 29-year-old's name is featured on the Lord's Honours Board, but the score will only be added after India's innings. In the video, the India opener was first welcomed by his opening partner Rohit Sharma who hugged him.

Later, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul's close friend gave him a hug and pat on the back for the knock. India's head coach Ravi Shastri was delighted with the knock and he welcomed him in the dressing room, along with Ajinkya Rahane.

Rahul is now the first Indian opener in the last 31 years to score a century at Lord’s. The last Indian opener to achieve the milestone was Shastri.
