CWC 2023: WATCH- Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's bromance as India routs England by 100 runs in Lucknow

India now has 12 points from 6 wins from 6 matches in CWC 2023.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli | XThere were questions raised about Team India’s blueprint if they had to defend a total in this ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They had won five matches before facing England on October 29, 2023, and all were won while chasing the total.

Well in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, England gave India a chance to defend as well, and what a defense it proved to be. Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bat first.

India’s batting was buoyed by Rohit Sharma’s 87 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 49 runs. KL Rahul also made 39 runs as India only managed 229/9 in 50 overs. David Willey with 3/45 was the pick of England bowlers, which included the wicket of Virat Kohli for a duck.

In response Jasprit Bumrah started the procession of wickets, removing Dawid Malan (16) and Joe Root (0) off consecutive balls. And then Mohammad Shami put the final nail in the coffin of the England team.

He picked wickets Jonny Bairstow (14), Ben Stokes (0), Moeen Ali (15) and Adil Rashid for 13 runs. Shami finished with 4/22 in his 7-over spell.

Liam Livingstone top-scored with 27, but Kuldeep Yadav bamboozled him and Jos Buttler (10) as England capitulated for 129 runs in 34.5 overs.

India won the match by 100 runs and with 12 points from 6 wins, have more or less qualified for the semi-final.

in the midst of the carnage, two of the most senior Indian players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen celebrating a wicket with the energy that only these two cricketers can produce.
