India wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav produced a peach of a delivery to get rid of England skipper Jos Buttler in Match 29 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in Lucknow on Sunday (October 29).
During the 16th over of the chase, Kuldeep knocked over Buttler with a jaffa. The ball pitched outside off and turned back sharply to hit the top of middle stump, leaving the English captain completely bamboozled.
Buttler’s dismissal on 10 reduced the defending champions to 52/5 on a sluggish surface.
Here’s the video:
Earlier, India posted 229/9 on the board after being asked to bat first. Skipper Rohit Sharma top scored with 87 while Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with a crucial 49-run knock.
Defending the total, the hosts needed wickets with the new ball and the pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami took a couple of scalps each to reduce the defending champions to 39/4.
While Bumrah removed Dawid Malan (16) and Joe Root (0), Shami got rid of Ben Stokes (0) and Jonny Bairstow (14).
