CWC 2023: Harbhajan Singh picks highest run-getter and wicket-taker for World Cup; picks India as winner

India  | GettyMember of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team, Harbhajan Singh has named his picks of players in the World Cup 2023, who can achieve multiple records in the tournament. He also named India as one of the winners of the tournament.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will begin on October 5 with England and New Zealand clashing in the opening match in Ahmedabad. The Narendra Modi stadium will also host the final on November 19. The 10 participating teams will play a total of 48 matches across 10 venues in India.

Harbhajan Singh, while speaking to ESPNCricinfo, named Virat Kohli as the batter who can score the most runs in the World Cup 2023. In a similar vein, he named Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav as his choice for picking the most wickets in the tournament.

Going further, Harbhajan Singh named Shubman Gill as his choice for the Player of the Tournament award. He also picked the young Punjab batter to be the best newcomer in the World Cup. Gill has scored over 1200 runs in ODIs in 2023 with five centuries to his name, including a double-hundred against New Zealand.

He named India captain Rohit Sharma as the batter who will hit the most sixes in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Coming to the teams, Harbhajan Singh named India, England, and Australia as the three semi-finalists in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 tournament. And finally, Harbhajan Singh named India as his pick for the winners of the tournament overall.
