India spinner Piyush Chawla has showered Kuldeep Yadav with praise after his 4/43 helped India defeat Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s stage match and took them into the final of the tournament.

India had posted 213 after opting to bat first with Rohit Sharma (53), Ishan Kishan (33), KL Rahul (39), and Akshar Patel (26) being the main run-getters. For Sri Lanka, Dunith Wellalage picked 5/40 and Charith Asalanka took 4/18.

In response, after the early burst by Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav picked 4/43 to restrict Sri Lanka to 172 and take India to a 41-run win despite Dhananjaya de Silva (41) and Dunith Wellalage (42*) trying their best to avoid the loss.

Piyush Chawla praises Kuldeep Yadav and said that once a bowler loses his fear of failure, he goes on to pick up more wickets.

“Sometimes you have that fear of failure. Because you think if I don't get the wickets then I might not play the next game. So once that fear is out of your mind, you try to get more attacking and you're not scared of getting hit, and in that process, you end up getting up more wickets,” said Chawla on Star Sports.

“So that's what he's doing at the moment. He's not scared of, there's no fear of failure. He’s just coming and he's enjoying his bowling and the best part is he's looking to get wickets in every over,” Chawla added.

Thus far Kuldeep has picked 9 wickets in Asia Cup 2023 as he had taken a fifer against Pakistan.
