While Asif and Fareed were separated before things could go out of control, the tension already reached the stands and it took a horrible shape after Naseem Shah smashed two consecutive sixes in the final over to seal the deal for Pakistan.

In multiple videos doing rounds on social media, a section of Afghanistan fans was seen uprooting the stadium chairs and hurling them toward Pakistan fans or throwing aimlessly.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar condemned the behaviour of the Afghan fans and tweeted, “This is what Afghan fans are doing. This is what they’ve done in the past multiple times. This is a game and it’s supposed to be played and taken in the right spirit. @ShafiqStanikzai, your crowd & your players both need to learn a few things if you guys want to grow in the sport.”

With this victory, Pakistan also secured their place in the Asia Cup 2022 final, where they will take on Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (September 11).
