The third day of the first Test between Pakistan and England in Multan saw an unusual moment as visiting batter Harry Brook narrowly avoided dismissal despite the ball hitting his stumps.

During the 75th over of England’s first innings, Pakistan pacer Aamer Jamal bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump that nipped back in and Brook attempted a late stab at it.

However, the ball deflected off his body and trickled back toward the stumps. It hit the poles but the bails remained unmoved, much to the surprise of the fans.

The commentators also acknowledged that Brook had a stroke of incredible luck to escape what could have been a game-changing dismissal.

Here’s the video:

At the time of the incident, Harry Brook was batting on 75. The right-hander made the most of his good fortune and went on to slam his sixth Test hundred. It was his fourth Test ton in as many matches on Pakistan soil.

Brook remained unbeaten on 141 at the close of play while Joe Root finished the day on 176*. Thanks to their unbroken 243-run stand, England racked up 492/3 at stumps on Day 3, trailing the hosts by just 64 runs in the first innings.
