India skipper Rohit Sharma suffered an injury scare on the eve of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval.
Rohit copped a blow to his left thumb during an optional net session on Tuesday (June 6). He reportedly decided against extending his session as a precautionary measure.
The Indian captain was also attended by the team physio, who applied tape on his troubling thumb.
Since taking over the reins from Virat Kohli, Rohit has led India in six Tests so far and all of them have been at home.
Rohit had missed India’s reschedule fifth Test against England at Edgbaston last year after testing positive for COVID-19 and later missed out on two Tests on the tour of Bangladesh due to a thumb injury.
A clear picture on Rohit Sharma’s availability for the WTC final should be out in the next few hours. If he starts against Australia at the Oval, it will be his 50th appearance for India in the longest format.
